To many, this is one of the most scenic loops in the Grand Canyon.  This trail offers panoramic imagery of the Canyon, spectacular views of rapids, narrows hiking, and the famous Bright Angel Trail.

The Hermit Creek basin was named after Louis D. Boucher one of the early pioneers of the Grand Canyon, who built the Boucher Trail near Hermit Trail.  Called a Hermit because he lived by himself, Boucher was hardly that and would befriend many of the South Rim’s growing community. Hermit Trail was built to serve as the primary route to Hermit Camp, the first luxurious camping within the canyon, with even a cable tram that made the 3000’ foot descent with people and supplies.  Now only remnants of the camp remain, still bringing back a feeling of pioneer nostalgia that early tourists experienced.  You will quickly understand why this was a popular destination in the past.

NGC GUIDES PROMISE YOU A GREAT EXPERIENCE, with top-of-the-line equipment, great food, and an experienced guide to get you home safely.

  • Shuttle to/Meet at South Rim

  • 6.9 Mile Hike

  • 3,060 ft Loss

We'll begin our amazing excursion with a 4.9 mile descent to Havasupai Gardens.  A site the Havasupai used the nearby springs for centuries.  Later modified to a tourist camp by early pioneers, now a perfect shaded rest place for us to dip our feet in the creek and enjoy lunch before heading on to our camp.
